This time, we have a review of VaporBoost's Havana Libre, described as a moist, cuban cigar flavor. We purchased this E-Liquid ourselves to test VaporBoost's line a bit further.

After being sent a round of VaporBoost E-Liquids for review, we really enjoyed the "base formula" of the E-Liquids far over that of other companies; however, some of the flavors did seem weak, while others seemed troubling on atomizers. Their Cowboy Lights flavor is an incredibly unique Tobacco flavor, however, it is simply very tough on an atomizer. Very, very tough. Which is really a shame, because the liquid itself has a really complex profile of chewing tobacco and some southern, straw-like stoutness. If it was simply a bit cleaner on an atomizer, it may have won a Good Tobacco! Award.
So we purchased Havana Libre to test VaporBoost's tobacco's a bit further. We were really expecting a blend with as much complexity, hoping for really moist, musky notes as the description lays out. With ordering a Cuban Cigar type of vape, one usually pictures a vapor with a lot of moist musk. Something sweaty, musky, and moist, as if one were to be standing in a large warehouse where cigar tobacco is being stored in the humid areas of Cuba.
The nose of the E-Liquid is a bit odd. You really get that hit-you-in-the-face smell of musk, but largely that of well, wild onions, and in a dry way. This is not totally unexpected. There are local breweries in the Good News! area that seem to use this exact same flavoring for cigar flavors, and to Good News! it both smells and tastes largely of wild onions, with some "Oomph" added in that just somehow makes it strangely effective when trying to stop smoking.
Testing it out in a Fluxomizer, the flavor is almost exactly like the local blends, down to being almost a clone in a fancier bottle. It is identical. There are the stout notes of a very dry wild onion flavor, almost if a farmer made hay out of onion strands instead of grass. Like the local blends, this one starts out very, very dry in a fresh atomizer, and can round off with a lot of vaping. It's not an unexpected flavor, simply because we've experienced it before in other liquids, but it is a let-down that VaporBoost hasn't created something that a local, off-brand brewery hasn't. We really expected some very moist, musky, authentic tobacco notes, something much more authentic and moist in the blend.
However, it must be said that while the flavors of VaporBoost may overall need some tweaking to really shine best in the actual vapor, the good points are that they really have a good PG, VG, and Nicotine base going on; so many companies seem to make E-Liquids that have a watered-down, watery texture, almost as though one is vaping on flavored H20, and VaporBoost's E-Liquids really have that extremely thick, textured vapor that somehow seems much more accurate to our old-school preferences, than so many gourmet blends we've tried.
VaporBoost fall short in winning any Good News! Awards so far, simply because there are some issues in the grand picture and the flavors do need some work to match with the descriptions. However, this is one company, out of the many we've reviewed, who's products really match up to at least what we can sometimes find in our local E-Liquid shops. That's really the standard we look for, and with some tweaking, this is a company that we could stand there and say, "There's a standard here." There's a standard with these VaporBoost E-Liquids that is indeed met, in our opinion.
For most part, again, it's really the fact that this company has mastered the art of "the base" with these liquids; the vapor feel, the thickness, the throat hit, and the in-your-face, not-watered-down flavor. Even their Berry Lyptus, which was a very pale flavor, just seemed a little more straight-forward than some of these gourmet lines out there. For instance, we've noticed that with a number of gourmet lines, the vapor tastes much like a Whiskey without the alcohol. Somewhat of a water-infused, indescribable flavor that doesn't really come across as good, and seems more like cedar, nutmeg, brandy, or just something.
However, the VaporBoost juices just have something going on that touches a good base with what we look for here at Good News!, and for that, we simply wish more focus was on these flavors working better in standard atomizers. It may simply be that the flavors are, well, a bit too dirty or strong, or not strong enough, in some cases. It may be that a dripping atomizer is amazing for the VaporBoost blends. Right now, we'd really appreciating having a larger range of gear to test on!
As it is, we really suggest trying VaporBoost's Cowboy Lights - it's far from anything "light". It's a heavy flavored E-Liquid that is extraordinarily complex, and one would almost think it's a naturally-extracted tobacco E-Liquid. Not so much that it's a "smokey" blend, but more than it has a very strong flavor of in-your-face chewing tobacco, hay, some touches of leather, a great, full, warm throat hit, and tons of vapor. It's plain out one of the most robust flavors we've tried in terms of just how strong the flavor is. It's nothing like the "brown sugar" vapes!
However, we'd suggest not trying the Berry Lyptus, RY4 Deluxe, Sweet Dreams (unless you have a pyrex tank, and really need it for sleep - the flavor isn't anything to talk about, but it's OK), or Havana Libre. These four plain do need some work. However, with VaporBoost's 30-day return policy on all liquids, we'd suggest trying some others out for yourself. We really want to enjoy this company's E-Liquids as all-day-vapes, but it's simply that the mark hasn't hit us yet. It may hit you, instead.
